Biography
Born in 1887, Vyborg (russia). Graphic artist, art critic, publisher. Graduated from the Shtiglitz School of Technical Drawing in St. Pietierburg (1913). He worked as a teacher at the Pskov Art and Industrial School (1914-1916); headed the Kamianets-Podilskyi Art and Industrial School (1916-1933); at the same time he taught at the local university. Member of the Kamianets-Podilskyi Committee for the Protection of Monuments of Antiquity, Art, and Nature (1921); Kamianets-Podilskyi Scientific Society at the All-Ukrainian University of Science and Technology (1925). Since 1933 – a lecturer at the Kharkiv Art Institute. From 1935 – Head of the Graphics Department of the Kharkiv Art Gallery. From 1936, he headed experimental art workshops in Kyiv and the Lavra School of Folk Masters. He was arrested in December 1937 and executed. Rehabilitated in 1971.
