Biography
Born in 1910 in Luhansk. Painter, graphic artist. People’s Artist of the USSR (1974), Ukrainian SSR (1958), Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1948). Full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1958). Laureate of the State Prize of the USSR (1950, 1951). Participant of the Second World War. State awards. Graduated from Zaporizhzhia Art and Industrial School (1926) and Kyiv Art Institute (1932). Teachers in the specialty: V. Nevskyi, V. Favorskyi, F. Krychevskyi, F. Krasytskyi. He taught at the Kharkiv Art Institute (1933-1934), Kyiv State Art Institute (1934-1960), its professor (1947), rector (1951). He headed the Kyiv Creative Workshop of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (since 1962). Participated in exhibitions since 1933.
