Biography

French draughtsman, engraver and prints dealer. He was one of the most prolific artists of the 18th century. He studied in Paris, first in the studio of Jacques-Philippe Le Bass, where he was a pupil of Jacques Aliamet, becoming his assistant and demonstrating his skills in etching from an early age. His career as an engraver began in 1765 and lasted until 1815. He began to specialise in vignettes and culs-de-lampe, small works used to decorate all kinds of publications, as well as bookplates. He left over 400 works.
