Biography
Born in 1910, Rostov on Don (russia). Painter, graphic artist, teacher. People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1969), full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1958). Laureate of the State Prize of the USSR (1948), the State Prize of the RSFSR named after I. Repin (1971). State Award of the USSR. He studied at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1938), his teacher was I. Brodskii; he was trained by I. Hrabar (1938-1944). He taught at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1936-1944), Moscow Correspondence Pedagogical Institute (1967-1970, since 1968 – professor).
