Biography
Born in 1870 in Ukhovetsk (Volyn region). Painter, cultural activist, teacher. He studied at the Pochaiv School of Drawing (1886-1889). He graduated from the St. Pietierburg Academy of Arts (1895), pedagogical courses at it (1899-1900). His teacher was V. Makovskyi. He taught drawing at schools and gymnasiums in different cities of Ukraine. Since 1915 he lived and worked in Borzna (Chernihiv region), where he organized art courses (1919), initiated the creation of the local history museum (1922), and was its director until 1925.
