French engraver. He studied in Liège. At the age of 18, he moved to Paris, where he studied with the draughtsman and engraver Jacques-Philippe Le Bas, as well as in the workshops of Jacques Aliamet and Jean-Georges Wille. After completing his studies, he worked independently and soon gained a reputation. On 16.09.1776, he received a graveur du roi licence, on 4.08.1779 – graveur du prince de Condé licence, and on 30.11.1780, Société d’émulation pour les sciences et les beaux-arts de Liège accepted him into its ranks. After the loss of his wife in 1790, his grief undermined his health. He died of a sudden heart attack.

The catalogue of Longueil’s cabinet, which was sold on 31.08. 31.08.1793, states that “the work of this artist (found in the cabinet of prints of the Royal Library) consists of more than 500 works, including several etchings, subjects and landscapes; numerous series of very inspired engraved vignettes based on works by Eisen, Gravelot, Cochin, Moreau, Le Barbier, Myris and others, including several on the New Testament, Ovid’s Metamorphoses and Roland the Furious, Boccaccio’s Fairy Tales, La Fontaine’s Fairy Tales (1764, which contains about 20–30 vignettes by Longueil), etc.
