Biography
Born in 1903, Sokal (Lviv region). Painter. People’s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1989). Member of the USSR Union of Artists. He studied at the Lviv Free Academy of Arts (1918), Lviv Art and Industrial School (1921-1922), Kraków Academy of Arts (1922-1927), and the Paris Academy of Modern Art (1927-1929). Teachers in the specialty: F. Vygzewalski, Z. Rozwadowski, S. Batowski, Y. Pankiewicz. Member of artistic associations in Lviv (1920s-1930s). One of the founders of the Lviv organization of the Union of Soviet Artists (1944). He taught at the Lviv School of Applied Arts. Since 1947, he headed the Department of Painting at the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts.
