Biography
Born in 1911, Nosivka (Chernihiv region). Painter. Member of the USSR Union of Artists (1943). People’s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1964), USSR (1974). Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1960). Laureate of the Taras Shevchenko State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR (1982). Graduated from the Institute of Proletarian Art Culture (1933) and the All-Russian Academy of Arts (1943). Teachers in the specialty: F. Krychevskyi, L. Kramarenko, B. Yohanson, O. Zaitsev. He was the deputy chairman of the Board of the USSR Academy of Arts, secretary of the Board of the USSR Academy of Arts. Participant of exhibitions since 1935. He was awarded the Order of Lienin (1971), the Order of Friendship of Peoples (1981), and medals.
