Biography
Born in 1885, Sushchany (Kyiv region). Painter. People’s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1944). Laureate of the Taras Shevchenko State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR (1969). One of the founders of the Association of Artists of Red Ukraine (1926). He received state awards of the USSR. He studied at the Kyiv Art School, with a break (1902-1910). Graduated from the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1916). Teachers in the specialty: K. Korovin, A. Kasatkin, A. Vasnietsov, I. Sieliezniov, M. Murashko, M. Pymonenko. He taught at the Kyiv State Art Institute (1933-1974), professor (1939). Participated in exhibitions since 1918.
