Information about the work
The painting Noon [Poluden] (cardboard, oil, 1995, gifted to the Khmelnytskyi Regional Art Museum collection by the author in 1996) is simultaneously a landscape and an abstraction. Through minimal pictorial means—namely, the subtle nuancing of ochre tones—Voloshynov masterfully evokes the desert atmosphere with its intense heat, alongside cliffs or mountains. One can almost feel the radiant heat from the sun-scorched sand—precisely the sensation the artist strove to evoke in the viewer.
Nonconformism is synonymous with the terms underground, unofficial art, and dissident art, which describe the cultural expressions banned in the totalitarian countries of Eastern Europe and the USSR from the 1950s through the late 1980s. It represents free creative activity that emerged in defiance of ideological regulation in society, serving as the direct antithesis to officially canonized art.
