BALANCE DYNAMICS
11 November 2021 - 18 December 2021

“The main thing for me in art is searching,” says Khmelnytskyi artist Vadym Pishcherskyi.

To summarize the creative path of the young artist, it is a strong basic academic school plus constant experimentation and search for his own self in art. Vadym Pishcherskyi strives to achieve a certain balance and dynamics in his works. When asked which artist inspires him, he says that he prefers not to be influenced by anyone, because you can turn into a duplicate and not the best one, and his goal is to develop his own visual means, his own individual artistic style. However, it’s probably impossible to be in the creative process and not admire anyone. Therefore, some influence of the Swiss artist Hans Rudolf Giger, who is known for his xenomorphs for the film Alien (1979, directed by Ridley Scott), can still be traced even in the predominantly anthropomorphic images of the Khmelnytsky artist.

Vadym Pishcherskyi believes that graphics provides the most opportunities for creative experiments, although he does not overlook painting. In his experiments, he relies on his own intuition and understanding of the harmony of form, color, and line. If he sees that experimentation does not give the desired result, he decisively destroys the work. The artist works without preliminary sketches. He never knows in advance what the final result will be, he relies on his own intuition. That is, he works at the level of inner feelings, emotions, instinctively finding the only right artistic move, in his opinion. The form that is born in the process of creation gradually turns into the hypertrophied body of a titanic man (“Critical Movement”). Vadym Pishcherskyi is a master of the line, which sometimes creates the effect of emotional tension and anxiety (“Unbreakable Silence”), and sometimes reproduces a kind of calm (“In Self-Knowledge”). These feelings are enhanced by color. Saturated red is like an artist’s cry. Depicting images with many limbs, the artist thus demonstrates the process of movement, captures the dynamics in two-dimensional space (“Balance”, “In Self-Knowledge”).

In the future, he would like to work more with metal, because Vadym Pishcherskyi is a metal artist by profession. The exhibition presents the artist’s kinetic sculpture, which has the potential to become the beginning of a new series of works.

The artist does not want to please everyone, because if you please everyone, you can lose yourself. He is calm about the fact that someone may not like his works. But when people say that it’s “bad,” he considers it a superficial value judgment. In general, for Vadym Pishcherskyi, being an artist is not just a job, but a way of life in a constant search for the dynamics of balance.
