Mykhailo Namystiuk. Collection of the Cityscapes (paintings and graphic artworks)
17 September 2020 - 11 October 2020

Our lives are becoming more and more rapid; we rarely have the opportunity to enjoy what surrounds us every day. We are preoccupied with routine and don’t see anything around us. With his personal exhibition “Collection of the Cityscapes” Mykhailo Namystiuk invites you to take a short brake and take a close look at the beauty of simple things.

Landscape painting, also known as landscape art, is the depiction of natural scenery such as mountains, valleys, trees, rivers, and forests, especially where the main subject is a wide view—with its elements arranged into a coherent composition. In the visual arts, a cityscape (urban landscape) is an artistic representation, such as a painting, drawing, print or photograph, of the physical aspects of a city or urban area. It is the urban equivalent of a landscape. Townscape is roughly synonymous with cityscape, though it implies the same difference in urban size and density (and even modernity) implicit in the difference between the words city and town. In urban design the terms refer to the configuration of built forms and interstitial space. Only in the XVII century, the cityscape becomes an independent genre (it first appeared in the Netherlands). The active development of scientific research contributed to the formation of the principles of linear perspective, which were widely used by artists in the process of creating compositions of complex cityscapes.

The main character of Mykhailo Namystiuk’s artworks is the city in its daily routine, forms and colors. Modern pulsing life of the city. The streets of our city can be found in the paintings and graphic artworks of artist.

Cityscapes of the artist are peaceful; they invite you to contemplate these gorgeous views. And this is not just an invitation, it is an opportunity to experience the entire emotional spectrum of the city – sometimes rapid, and sometimes static. A cityscape is not just a static picture of the architecture and people on the streets, but also an image of the city, its nature and mood. All these elements are united in a special source of historical knowledge, where eras are preserved layer by layer.

The artist’s passion for urbanism allows the viewer to take a look at familiar cityscapes from a new, fresh perspective. Mykhailo Namystiuk’s ability to find poetry in any ordinary form is what makes him so special and unique artists.

Artworks are full of various forms, energy and romantic feelings; the city lives, pulsates, changes and develops. Sometimes, the real cityscape is just the basis for the final version of the artwork. The state of nature and the artist’s emotions are more important than architecture at this moment. Outdoor advertising in artworks of Mykhailo Namystiuk (a designer by profession) becomes an additional element of the composition and a part of the urban space.

Light painting, full of emotions and poetic sophistication of forms, with a transparent outline of objects and harmonious combination of colors is the artist’s business card.

The “Collection of the Cityscapes” exhibition is great opportunity to see new perspectives of familiar urban landscapes and to find new ones, that were hidden behind the routine of citizen and guests of our city.
