We invite residents and guests of Khmelnytskyi to the charity military photo exhibition “Heavenly Photographer” by Maksym Burda, an Armed Forces soldier, photographer and activist from Kovel, who died on January 26, 2023, near Bakhmut.
The photo exhibition has three goals: to realize Maksym’s dream of having his own photo exhibition, to honor the memory of the Heroes who defended and are defending our country, and to raise funds for the Angels of Azov charity foundation.
Maksym’s longtime dream is being realized in the tenth city by his girlfriend, Maria, and Maksym’s mother, Iryna, who will be happy to see everyone at the official opening of the photo exhibition. Maksym’s girlfriend Maria, Maksym’s friends, and museum representatives will speak at the opening. They will talk about Maksym, his path as a personality, a photographer and a warrior, the idea and concept of the exhibition, and its main meanings.
The photo exhibition will feature nearly 200 works of three different sizes for all 11 months of Maksym’s military service: from military training grounds and from the front line near Bakhmut.
There will also be an opportunity to buy photo works and charity merchandise: postcards, stickers, magnets, T-shirts, hoodies with photos at the exhibition.
Part of the proceeds from the sale will be transferred to the Azov Angels charity fund.

The exhibition in Khmelnytskyi will run until January 21, 2024. Before the full-scale war, Maksym Burda actively worked as a wedding photographer, co-founded the youth hub Vatra – the Right Space, was a member of the Youth Council of Kovel, a member of the National Corps party, and a volunteer of the Volyn region’s volunteer military training center.
On February 24, the first day of the full-scale war, without hesitation, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, although he was commissioned due to a spinal condition, and could continue to create by helping the army. Already as part of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, Maksym was famous for his skillful control of UAVs, and for his artful guidance of artillery at the enemy, which resulted in the elimination of a large number of Russians.
His call sign “Photographer”, which he chose when he joined the Armed Forces, is symbolic. Through his photographs, he captured everyday life, training, portraits of his comrades-in-arms, and the difficult emotions of war, while under constant fire.
In November 2022, Maksym created the Military Photographer Telegram channel dedicated to military photography. He has inspired many thousands of people with his work.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have repeatedly published his work on their official pages. Even during his service, he received many offers to organize personal photo exhibitions in different cities of Ukraine. After the war, he most wanted to organize a photo exhibition of war photos for all 11 months of his military service. His beloved Maria and mother Iryna Mykolayivna presented Maksym’s posthumous war photo exhibition in 9 cities. The tenth city will be Khmelnytskyi.
