Boris Schneider is primarily known as a master of tapestry, a wall-hanging lint-free carpet with a narrative or ornamental composition. Interest in national history and its interpretation is one of the artist’s defining themes. He refers to folk traditions, affirms the persistence of the national spirit, the values of the past and their connection with the present.

The artist often went on artistic trips and travels, during which he studied the peculiarities of weaving, embossing, embroidery, and various types of ornaments, and got acquainted with the culture and architecture of a particular region. It was under the influence of these travels that the desire to paint appeared. The artist devoted a significant part of his creative work to the depiction of architectural ensembles, fortifications of castles. The works of this theme are presented in the exhibition, and they date from the late 60s and 70s of the last century. These include pencil and felt-tip pen drawings and tempera paintings. Conventionally, according to the direction of travel, they can be divided into three groups: Ukraine (Kamianets-Podilskyi, Kremenets), Estonia (Tallinn), and Russia (Solovki).
