Lives and works in Kyiv.

Viktor Ivaniv is the author of figurative and abstract compositions, landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. His oeuvre is characterized by the foregrounding of color, compositional clarity, painterly synthesis, metaphorism, and a balance between form and content. His landscapes and still lifes frequently embody a profound philosophical concept, where mundane objects assume a cosmic, all-encompassing scale. Imbued with light and a distinct “cosmicity,” his canvases have drawn poetic critical acclaim, most famously captured in Viktor Pidhora’s review title, “Warm Memories of the Universe.”

The artist adopts the stance of an attentive observer with a deliberative, unhurried gaze—one who refrains from hasty conclusions. A contemplative approach in painting represents a conscious detachment from the immediate event to concentrate on its figurative dimension. The artist does not merely document a moment, but reinterprets it through color, rhythm, and metaphor. This is not indifference, but a heightened state of awareness. Works born of contemplation resonate over time; requiring no external context, they become the context itself (from the exhibition essay for Two Gazes, White World Gallery, Kyiv).
