Lives and works in Lviv.
An intellectual and philosopher, Lyubomyr Medvid prompts the viewer to reflect on the eternally relevant issues of choice, faith, morality, and ethics: “I have always wanted to paint what my inner eye sees, the experience of my own life, not someone else’s. Even today, I believe that in art, it is not only ‘how’ to paint that matters, but also ‘what’ to paint. And, frankly speaking, I cannot imagine an artist—an honest, decent person—who could live and create today as if there had never been dramatic pages in our people’s history and complex spiritual issues facing humanity in the modern civilized world.” The artist strives to delve into and penetrate the secret recesses of the human soul to understand human destiny on Earth.
