Biography
Born in 1946 in Haisyn (Vinnytsia region). Painter, graphic artist, artist of decorative and applied arts. People’s Artist of Ukraine (1992). Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1979). Laureate of the I. Ohienko Prize (1995). Academician of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine (1996). President of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine. Member of the National Union of Artists (1973), head of the Kyiv organization of the Union of Artists (1987-1989). He was awarded the Hrekov Gold Medal (1990), the Order of Merit, III Class (1997). He graduated from the Kyiv State Art Institute (1970). Teachers in the specialty: V. Selivanov, L. Chychkan. Teacher since 1970, professor (1985), rector of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture since 1989. Participant of exhibitions since 1966.
