Biography
Born in 1901, Novomoskovsk (Dnipro region). Painter, graphic artist, public figure. People’s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1963), USSR (1976). Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1946). Member of the Ukrainian Union of Artists (1944). Laureate of the Taras Shevchenko State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR (1972). He graduated from the private Berlin Art School of Hans Balushek (1924) and the Berlin Higher School of Fine Arts (1920-1924). He lived and worked abroad (1919-1936). He returned to Russia in 1936 and to Ukraine in 1944. He taught at the Kyiv Art School and was a professor at the Kyiv Art Institute (since 1939).
