Biography

Born in 1926 in Yerevan (Armenia). Painter, graphic artist. People’s Artist of the USSR (1983). Laureate of the State Prize of the USSR (1969). Full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1973). Corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Armenian SSR (1982). Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1953). He was awarded the bronze medal of the VI World Festival of Youth and Students (1957); silver medal of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1960); gold medal of the USSR Ministry of Culture; bronze medal of the World Exhibition in Brussels (1958); Orders of the Red Banner of Labor, “Badge of Honor” and medals of the USSR. Graduated from the F. Terlemezyan Yerevan Art School (1945), Yerevan State Art Institute (1951). Teachers in the specialty: E. Isabekyan, L. Bekaryan. Member of the Board of the USSR Union of Artists (1963). Member of the Board of the Union of Artists of the Armenian SSR (since 1963).
