Biography
Born in 1879 in Semenivka (Chernihiv region). Painter, graphic artist, monumentalist, teacher. Member of the Kyiv Society of Artists (1915), the Society of Ukrainian Plastic Art Workers (1918), the Association of Artists of Red Ukraine (1926-1929), the Ukrainian Art Association (1929-31), the Ukrainian Academy of Arts (1938), and the Union of Ukrainian Fine Artists (Lviv, 1943). He studied at the Kyiv Drawing School of M. Murashko (from 1898), Kyiv Art School (1904-1909), and the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture (1909-1913). Teachers in the specialty: H. Diachenko, M. Pimonenko, K. Korovin, S. Maliutin. He taught at the Kyiv Art School (1915-1925), Kyiv Art Institute (1925-1932), professor (1925). He headed the landscape workshop at the Kharkiv Art Institute (1932-1941).
