Biography
Born in 1915, Savkivka (Cherkasy region). Painter, art critic. Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1960, 1961). Member of the National Union of Artists (1943). He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, medals, diplomas of the Council of Ministers of Ukraine (1999), the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR (1964), the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR (1975). He graduated from Kharkiv Art College (1937) and Kharkiv Art Institute (Samarkand, 1942). Teachers in the specialty: O. Kokel, M. Kozyk, M. Samokysh, Y. Vladymyrov. He attended the workshops of F. Krychevskyi, S. Prokhorov, and M. Sharonov. He taught at the Kharkiv Art School (1945-1946). He worked as the director of the Kharkiv Art Museum (1944-1952), the State Museum of Ukrainian Fine Arts (now the National Art Museum of Ukraine, 1970-1988). He has participated in exhibitions since 1942.
