TO THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF VASYL STEFANYK
Exhibition of graphics from the collection of KhRAM
3 June 2021 - 29 July 2021

2021 has been declared the Year of Significant Events at the museum. So, we continue to travel back in time to recall significant dates in the history of Ukraine and get to know the collection of the KhRAM in more detail.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Vasyl Stefanyk, a prominent Ukrainian writer, public and political figure, one of the most important figures in the cultural, social and political life of Ukraine.

He entered the history of Ukrainian literature as the author of deeply meaningful and distinctive in form sociopsychological novels about the life of the peasantry. He wrote short, strong, and scary. Perhaps that is why his work belongs to the best examples of European expressionism, and his books were translated into 22 languages during his lifetime.

Despite the strict laconicism, the writer’s works clearly crystallize micro details that can create an explosion in the souls of readers. Vasyl Stefanyk’s novels evoke a wide range of feelings, but they will definitely not leave anyone indifferent.

“I wrote in order to tune and stretch the strings of our peasant’s soul so tightly that Beethoven’s music would come out of it.” V. Stefanyk

Vasyl Stefanyk’s books were illustrated by the most prominent Ukrainian graphic artists. In particular, at the new exhibition that will take place in the museum gallery “apARTment” on June 3 at 16.00, you will be able to get acquainted with the works of original artists from the collection of the KhRAM: Dmytro Lazarenko, Ivan Ostafiychuk and Heorhiy Yakutovych.
