On November 30, at 17.00, we are pleased to invite you to the opening of Hanna Bohachuk’s solo exhibition “Identity”. This project is an artistic study of the factors shaping national identity through the prism of memories and stories of women from the eastern, southern, and central regions of Ukraine. The artist conducted more than 20 individual audio interviews with the project’s protagonists, asking only one question: “Do you remember the moment when you first realized that you were Ukrainian?” In turn, the participants plunged into their childhood memories, analyzed their past, and found non-obvious but important answers to this difficult question. You will be able to see the results of these studies this Thursday on KhRAM.
For reference:
Hanna Bohachuk is a contemporary Ukrainian artist, born in Khmelnytskyi, where she graduated from the fine arts class at the Children’s Art School in 2002. Despite her higher education in economics and a successful career in marketing communications, in 2019 she returned to artistic activity and devoted herself entirely to artistic practice. The main themes the artist works with are traditional Ukrainian culture, ethnic visual codes, national identity and collective memory.
In 2022, Hanna presented her project “Red”, dedicated to the study of the red color as a key color in Ukrainian culture. It was presented during the artist’s solo exhibitions in Lithuania as part of the Kaunas 2022 European Capital of Culture program and at the Avangarden Gallery in Kyiv. She has participated in many Ukrainian and international group exhibitions in London, Berlin, Hamburg, Vilnius, Seattle, Athens, and others.
In September 2023, Hanna Bohachuk’s project “Identity” received grant support from the Open Lithuania Foundation and was presented as part of a solo exhibition of the same name at the Vilnius City Hall.
