Exhibition hall #4
Holiday in a classic style
5 December 2019 - 28 February 2020

The holiday is not always just an opportunity to spent a bright, fun and incredible day off. The holiday is a good chance to remind something pleasant, aesthetical and incomprehensible that affected you in past days.

The exhibition of artworks from the museum’s collection “Holiday in a classic style” is an incredible time machine. As soon as you enter the exhibition hall, you have a unique opportunity to experience the past and people, who lived, worked, created and loved 120-140 years ago. It’s no secret for many of you that our museum is located in the building built by Davyd Nirenberh in 1903 as a branch of South Russian Industrial Bank. It is located on one of the central streets of our city, not far from the central square.

The collection of the museum, founded in 1986-1988 includes many artworks of the 19th and 20th centuries. There are numerous first-class paintings, graphics, icons, furniture and works of folk art among them. Therefore, we reproduced the interior of an old apartment and country estate of the end of 19th century in the “Holiday in a classic style” exhibition. We invite you to visit and enjoy the unique atmosphere of this exhibition in our largest exhibition hall (240 square meters).

In the exposition you can find artworks of the “seeker of the sun” Volodymyr Orlovskyi (1842-1914), a member of “Association of Wanderers” Volodymyr Makovskyi (1846-1920), the “master of color” Serhii Svitoslavskyi (1857-1931), master of the psychological portraiture Andronyk Lazarchuk (1870-1934), exquisite Ukrainian impressionist Mykola Burachek (1871-1942), artist and teacher Oleksandr Murashko (1875-1919), well-known Podillian Heorhii Vereiskyi (1886-1962), graphic artworks of Leon Bakst (1866-1924), Valentyn Sierov (1865-1911) and Ivan Shyshkin (1832-1898).

So come and join this winter-long holiday at our museum.
