The canvas Meditation [Meditatsiya] (canvas, oil, 1991, acquired for the Khmelnytskyi Regional Art Museum collection from the author in 1992) is executed in the artist’s signature painterly manner. Basanets constructs the composition through delicate nuances of pinkish-ochre tones and the complete absence of linear outlines. Set against a backdrop of stylized structures and color planes, he depicts a human head with chiseled, resolute facial features reminiscent of a sculptural bust. The work impresses with its high painterly culture, inviting quiet reflection and contemplation.
